I started my engineering career in 2015 at A-One+ as a apprentice. Whilst being a A-one+ i have worked on award winning schemes such as converting a large section of lighting on the M62 to LED. This project received a highly commended award at the 2017 Constructing Excellence in Yorkshire and Humber Awards due to the massive savings they provide. I have been involved in both STEM events at work and with the ICE. At work I sit on the STEM committee group and attend meetings to discuss upcoming events and events done since the last meeting. One these events was visiting a school in Morley, this was done In partnership with Highways England and we visited 462 children to raise awareness of what we as a company do to keep the trunk road network safe. For the ICE I visited a careers event at a school in Bradford alongside a graduate engineer where I got to talk to the pupils about what it’s like being an apprentice engineer and also give advice on how to get a job as an apprentice.
