The coordinator for Multicultural Programs and Initiatives is a multifaceted position whose main objective is to manage and develop programming that supports the diverse community of the University of Michigan-Dearborn through structured educational events and programs that introduce students to diverse perspectives and experiences of the surrounding Metro-Detroit community. The coordinator is responsible for coordinating annual university events regarding diversity and equity as well as developing close relationships with local community partners, such as New Detroit, the Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Services, and American Indian Health and Family Services.· Manage and facilitate campus-wide diversity and inclusion workshops and annual multicultural programs such as MLK Week, Global Fest, Conversations on Race, and Unity Reception.· Develop inter-community partnerships throughout the Metro-Detroit area to promote student engagement off-campus; e.g.: New Detroit, the Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Services, and American Indian Health and Family Services.· Advise and support student-led diversity programs and initiatives across the campus.·Assist with recruitment committee and procedures.· Represent the Office for Student Engagement on the following committees: MLK Week Planning Committee, Cruise Model T Planning Committee, Conversations on Race Advisory Committee, and 2018 Regional Interfaith Conference.
