Associate Editor
CurrentMy primary duties as an associate editor with ShopNotes magazine are to research, develop, and write 12 to 16 pages of project and department articles per issue. ShopNotes magazine is a "how-to" publication geared toward the woodworking home shop enthusiast. ShopNotes is a 52-page, bi-monthly publication with no advertising. Each issue features 3-4 new, unique project articles that range from 4 to 12 pages. In addition, each issue of ShopNotes has six to ten 2-page department articles which focus on tips, techniques, new products, and skill-building lessons.Other duties include assisting the Woodsmith Store, a 20,000 sq ft retail woodworking, gardening, and home improvement store located in Clive, IA with advertising, merchandising, and marketing materials. I also facilitate woodworking, gardening, painting & finishing, and grilling seminars at the store. Since the new facility opened in 2004, I have been in charge of scheduling and promoting the seminars. I also coordinate the selection of presenters and provide suggestions for subject matter for the woodworking seminars. Each seminar is a one-hour live presentation at our 200-seat on-site facility located in the store. Seminars are recorded for future use and I have produced podcasts of the seminars that are posted at our prototype weblog: www.WoodworkingOnline.com
