I have recently completed my Google IT Professional Certification, I am also in my 3rd year working for Wegmans Food Markets, during which I developed skills in troubleshooting, networking, and systems administration. I’m moving to a career in IT to follow my passion for technology and my natural desire to help people. With the time I’ve had working at Wegmans, I’ve arrived at a point where I want to take this slightly scary step in my education and work towards something greater for myself. These last 3 years have enhanced my work ethic, taught me patience, strengthened my empathy, and given me perspective on the value of my time which is difficult to do when you have ASD. I have 11 years of experience with helping the physically disabled and collectively 8 years of customer service experience both of which have taught me patience, prioritization, and empathy. For over a decade I have had a desire to work in the IT field and apply the empathy I have developed to help make people's lives easier. Being the home tech person growing up, I learned early what kinds of things typically confused non-tech savvy people both at home and out of school, like why a program might not run, or how to make a project look better or more unique. Helping people also requires patience not only to find a solution to a problem but also to inform that person along the way so the problem does not resurface. Keeping all of your tasks in order is essential in helping people in IT because sometimes it’s necessary to work backward through any mistakes that result in the obstacle they need help with and that level of structure can make all the difference in finding a solution.I have a strong desire to make my way in the tech world whether it’s as a small piece of a team, or being one of the main helping hands on a project that will do something beneficial for a large number of people. I want to develop my tech knowledge and apply the skills I gain to doing something greater than myself. I want to enhance who I am so I can use what life has molded into me to the best of my ability.
