Served as primary process engineer for the construction, commissioning, and operation of a 1.5MMSCFD first in kind Oxidative Coupling of Methane (OCM) demonstration plant built at host polypropylene facility. Key accomplishments include:- Successfully led the overall commissioning of the plant- Wrote all operating procedures and trained all operators and shift supervisors on plant operation- Participated in the design of plant processes and controls logic- Championed all plant MOCs and led associated PSSRs- Managed environmental permit compliance in all run activities and prepared monthly environmental reports- Issued daily instructions to operations and led communications with host at production meetings- Designed, managed, and implemented plant improvement projects- Participated in plant PHAs including HAZOP and LOPA studies- Coordinated and supervised construction and maintenance activities- Participated in process troubleshooting including re-design and implementation of equipment - Built strong relationships with all levels of plant personnel in the context of a complex host/tenant relationship

Filled key role in Pilot and Research Engineering group with the following duties and achievements: - Assisted in the design and fabrication of pilot scale equipment and reactors- Uncovered and demonstrated aging effects in OCM catalysts through designing experiments and developing aging models - Designed metrics that allow for statistical reactor scale comparisons and ranking of catalyst performance- Designed, constructed, and maintained a 64 channel high-throughput reactor system - Safely operated Pilot OCM reactors and assisted in day to day process troubleshooting - Led the physical characterization of formed catalyst heat and mass transfer phenomenon - Designed and executed experiments to prioritize catalyst contamination risks - Designed initial scale up of catalyst forming (extrusion) for pilot reactor charges - Designed and constructed a process to test metal flammability in pure oxygen at elevated temperatures and pressure

Conducted a study on the commercial viability of polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) as a sustainable replacement for petroleum based polymers which included:- Researching and evaluating current process technology in bio-plastic production - Building a detailed process economic model to predict breakeven price - Identifying the barriers to market adoption by analyzing bio-plastic competition within the feasible applications Results from this study were given as recommendations in a presentation to members of Dow management

Materials Handling (August 2009 – December 2009)- Contributed to a Six Sigma Black Belt project by building a process dashboard in PI Process Book which revealed potential cost savings- Designed and implemented methods of accounting for compressor oil as a part of a team responsible for the removal of oil from the ethylene distribution systemEnvironmental Services (August 2007 – December 2007)- Designed a process for the environmentally friendly disposal of waste water treatment sludge during incinerator shutdown that was implemented and resulted in savings of approximately $750,000- Obtained a working knowledge of industrial wastewater treatment systems

- Designed and constructed a high pressure view cell apparatus for the visual examination of supercritical fluid phenomenon and utilized Visual Basic to program a real time temperature and pressure reading on a live video feed- Created an educational video demonstrating supercritical fluid behavior which has been viewed more than 63,000 times on youtube.com
