I am a partner in the Environmental Practice Group at Thompson Hine in Cleveland, OH. My practice focuses on creating solutions to challenging issues in the areas of environmental enforcement, regulatory compliance litigation and transactions. I represent clients in a wide variety of industries including manufacturing and other industrial operations, transportation, as well as municipalities. I advise clients on Superfund and Brownfield site remediation and redevelopment, defense of enforcement actions brought by state and federal agencies (including waste, water, and several other environmental media and statutes), mobile air sources and the purchase and sale of business and properties (due diligence, contract drafting and negotiation, acquisition of environmental insurance and other financial assurance options).I graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in Business Administration - Marketing in 2003. In 2007, I earned my J.D. degree with a Certificate from the Program of Environmental and Energy Law (PEEL) and a second certificate from the Public Interest Law program at Chicago-Kent College of Law. While at Chicago-Kent, I served on the Board of the Chicago-Kent Law Review as an Executive Articles Editor. During law school I earned a judicial extern for Magistrate Judge Arlander Keys of the Northern District of Illinois, where I drafted a complex social security case opinion and engaged in daily interaction and private settlement mediations with Judge Keys regarding civil and criminal matters. I also earned an externship at the United States Environmental Protection Agency, Region 5, where I assisted in the preparation of prosecutions under federal environmental laws including RCRA, CERCLA, and CWA.Specialties: Environmental compliance, enforcement defense, environmental due diligence, strategic problem solving, oral and written communication, legal writing, research, complex fact investigation, negotiations.
