In this role, I provided a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for children before and after school hours. My responsibilities included supervising children, organizing age-appropriate activities, and assisting with homework and other developmental tasks. I worked closely with parents to ensure effective communication and built strong, trusting relationships with each child, fostering their social skills, creativity, and confidence.This role expanded my knowledge of teamwork further as the stakes are much higher. Child safety is of such great importance and that can not be implemented without constant and effective communication between all staff members.

This job required immediate decision-making and critical thinking in intense situations as factors such as intoxication, theft and underage customers are a daily occurrence that pose challenges and threats that must be handled appropriately. This role involved stock management, service of alcohol, and in my case, a temporary responsibility in managing the store and staff.This position taught me the importance of decisive thinking and trusting my instincts in quick interactions, as well as how to handle and de-escalate stressful and aggressive situations with particular customers.Additionally, I learnt sales techniques, understanding each product and knowing what each customer's needs are. This made my time at BWS enjoyable and successful, finding the perfect product for a customer was a joy which helped develop my skills in producing sales for the company.

Furthering my experience of teamwork in a hospitality setting, I learnt the skills of bartending, front door welcoming, waiting and cafe work such as making coffee. This was another opportunity for me to enhance my development as a young student worker, making connections and learning new skills. Communication was vital in this role, and helped me better understand how to manage my time to best aid the rest of the team.

The ideal first job, learning the fundamentals of teamwork, working in high-stress situations and a compact environment. My duties consisted mainly of preparing food in a team of 5-10, rotating specific duties and co-operating to meet the constant demand of a train station fast food restaurant.
