Worked on the team that handled multiple services for the State of Wisconsin, including the DNR's customer-facing GoWild site, the DOJ's public background check site, the DOA's public notices site, and others.The sites we worked on were primarily MVC/Razor websites with some jQuery on the front end and an Entity Framework API & SQL DBMS on the back end.My responsibilities started out as bug fixing, feature improvements, environment management, database management, and working directly with our partners and their vendors to get the system working as intended. After spending a few years on the team I stepped into an interim team leader role for almost a year while our existing team leader was helping another team reach a deadline. While I was acting as interim team leader, I was responsible for managing timelines, deciding scope of new features, communicating between management and partners, executing annual peak sales events, and mentoring junior team members.

Worked on the desktop virtualization management project vWorkspace (http://www.dell.com/us/business/p/dell-software-vworkspace/pd) - a virtual desktop manager and broker program.The team spanned across North America and Europe, our product led the field of desktop virtualization management.We had developed an administration broker with both a Windows GUI and a PowerShell module for both quick reporting and easy automation.Ensured that our product could work seamlessly with all of the major hypervisors currently available.I worked in a multi-million-line codebase spanning a decade's worth of languages, versions and IDEs from VB6 to C#, from Visual Studio 6 to 2015, and everything in between.One of my bigger projects was integrating our product with another product from another team. In executing the integration, I was responsible for communicating between both teams and handling issues relating to interfacing the two very different products.Probably my largest contribution to the vWorkspace team was being the sole developer spearheading our product's performance benchmarking initiative. We had no hard numbers on how our product behaved under stress besides anecdotal remarks from customers and our support team. I put together a benchmarking lab and a tool to run automated tests against them in a variety of configurations which gave us hard data for multiple variables. This allowed us to find and fix many performance bottlenecks which drastically improved the end-user experience of our product.A brief history of my role:Intern Software Developer under Quest Software from November 2011 through September 2012In September 2012, Dell bought Quest Software.Intern Software Developer under Dell, Inc from October 2012 through May 2013In spring 2013 I graduated and was hired on in a more official capacity.Software Developer for Dell, Inc. from June 2013 through April 2016In April 2016 Dell made the business decision to eliminate our product from their offerings.

When a new building or remodel is being planned, the telecommunications and data networks need to be planned as well. Technology Services provides schematics, diagrams, floor plans, details etc. for server rooms, cabling layouts, telecom trees, nurse calls, sound systems and more.Created drawings using AutoCAD and Revit, coordinated with project managers, took redlines and turned them into revisions.Developed a python script that accepts a set of user inputs as defined by a standard published by an external company and acts on a set of blank AutoCAD drawing templates to initialize them for use by the various building disciplines and sub-disciplines. Performs selective file copying, connects to AutoCAD using ObjectDBX and COM, performs complex string manipulations on AutoCAD files without opening them. Documented and made robust enough to allow non-programmers to use the script. A process that used to take 12+ hours to complete now takes less than 10 minutes with this script.Developed a python script that took over 1,300 drawing files and prepared them for the final "Record Drawings" phase of their life cycle. Similar in function to the script noted above, but even larger in scope and complexity.

Worked directly under the head designer and owner of the company, taking hand-drawn plans and converting them into full-blown construction document sets. Coordinated with builders and clients to ensure a smooth construction process. Assisted in the management of a small office.Oversaw a complete system upgrade from Autodesk Architectural Desktop 3 to AutoCAD Architecture 2011.Acted as the company's sole IT worker, performing all manner of IT duties: Rebuilding operating systems, overseeing new equipment purchases and setup, performing client data backups, day-to-day help desk and administration.Rebuilt the company's website from the ground up to better suit clients' needs.
