I oversee the department’s customer communications, marketing and customer services. My primary focus is community and educational (STEM) outreach programs to enhance our overall reputation and keep youth and adults interested in the utility and the energy industry. This has included creating news releases, management of the utility's social media platforms and website, enhancing the department's educational partnerships, creating multi-media educational content, and much more. I also manage two employees who work directly under me in customer service.

As the community project coordinator and Public Information Officer for the Idaho Falls Police Department, I've successfully built and implemented the department’s public and media relations from the ground up. I’ve focused efforts to develop a good reputation and a strong partnership between the department, the media and the community by ensuring the lines of communication are always open. That includes sending out daily press releases, pitching story ideas, arranging interviews, handling crisis communication, managing website content, engaging audiences with social media, creating multi-media marketing and journalistic pieces and acting as an ambassador and public information officer for the department. I also coordinate and prepare materials for special events, educational seminars and other community outreach programs. This has enabled the department to effectively do its job and fulfill the IFPD mission.

At the Post Register I worked as a Cops and Courts reporter writing both in-depth and brief articles about recent criminal activity, court proceedings and highlighting judicial and law enforcement topics. Each week I was expected to submit 5-10 news articles for publications per week in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines. I also collaborated with other reporters on special assignments and projects.

At the Beatrice Daily Sun I covered municipal government and business. Basically, I covered the activities of the city, including government, emergency services and the economy. Each day, I worked on tight deadlines as I wrote news articles from information gathered from news sources. I also collaborated with the other reporters on special assignments and projects. I also was responsible for newspaper photography and videography.

I worked as the editor of a weekly newspaper. Here I covered government, business, education, etc. I also networked with multiple people in the professional community.
