"Don't give up. Don't ever give up." — Jim Valvano (AKA Jimmy V) ══ INSPIRATION ══ I love music and being around others. It's my passion. I grew up in New York and graduated high school with my Regents Diploma. When a friend asked me what was next, I mentioned my interest in radio. He took me down to the radio station. It enthralled me, and the rest is history! After a year of college, I became a Program Director, which was what I had wanted. I'm seeking longevity so that I'm able to give back to those who have helped me, particularly my mom. My dad suffered from Muscular Dystrophy severely. He was in a wheelchair, and we lost him when I was six. In many ways, I honor my father's memory today because many have told me he longed to be in broadcasting instead of a CPA. I know that my dad is proud of who I have become. I want to be the change. With my profession, I want to be recognized and critiqued based on my professional capabilities and shortfalls—just like everyone else. Yes—I have Cerebral Palsy. No—I'm not in a wheelchair. I have even worked through a broken wrist. I am good to go as long as no lifting is involved. I'm not disabled. I'm capable. Knowledge excites me. I had a mentor at Hot 97 teaching me how to become a program director, a friend to this day. I've worked hard to earn certifications to learn programs in depth. Often someone says that I can't do something, but it never stops me from succeeding. I want to prove to others that no dream is impossible, no matter who you are. Currently pursuing my Bachelor's degree, I also have professional scheduling and audio editing software. My comfort zone is my music studio.
