Joe Mata Email and Phone Number
I’m a seasoned intelligence analyst and political affairs officer with over fifteen years of experience in the areas of policy planning, intelligence analysis, strategic planning, stakeholder engagement and program management. Throughout the course of my career I utilized excellent writing skills, a keen analytical mind and an ability to build relationships across agencies and cultures to my jobs at the US Department of State, the United Nations and various non-profits. In doing so, I helped formulate and inform policy while accomplishing concrete objectives related to topics ranging from Afghan elections to amateur boxing in the Solomons Islands. With the United Nations in Afghanistan, I collaborated with local warlords, religious leaders and community elders to help ensure the integrity of Afghanistan’s first post-Taliban presidential election in 2004. In Washington, I worked with the Department of State to formulate and win approval for US Government supported efforts to improve Afghan governance. As an intelligence analyst with the Department of State, I produced a variety of written analytical pieces and personal briefings to inform policy makers about events in Afghanistan. While living in the Solomon Island, I worked to resurrect a moribund national boxing program. I collaborated with athletes, coaches and the National Olympic Committee of Solomon Islands to train and fund a team that won three medals in the 2015 Pacific Games--the team's first international appearance in over a decade. Since 2013 I served as primary care giver to our son, while working on a yet to be published novel.
