Joe began his Finance career in 1991 with Goldman Sachs in New York. He was originally hired to aid in a new Payables system implementation and then participated in a mobility program rotating throughout the Shared Services group, Accounting Services. Some key responsibilities early on were the 1099 process, payment of Partner Taxes, Vendor Master Maintenance, American Express data feed, and the Taxi system processing (black car service). After becoming expert in Accounts Payable and expenses, this information was valuable in understanding the Firm’s vendor spend and how to reduce it through Strategic Sourcing. His leadership in Third Party Expense Management earned him a nomination for the first John C. Whitehead Award. As Strategic Sourcing became more important in 2000 & 2001 this was an additional area of expertise that he acquired. Since this was a new and exciting area, he followed Goldman’s CPO to Revlon where Strategic Sourcing was being used as a lever to turn Revlon’s P&L around. Pinnacle Foods recruited Joe to start an Indirect Sourcing Program for North America. In addition to Procurement he managed P-card and the Travel Department. He was later asked to manage an area of Direct Spend, Ingredients. He has experience working under Private Equity ownership. In 2013, Logitech asked Joe to relocate from the East Coast to the Bay Area to re-engineer its global Procurement and P2P function. During this process the Oracle ERP system was upgraded to version 12. Joe created a hybrid approach to Procurement by outsourcing three large categories to a third party.
