The Senior Auditor is responsible for the oversight and operation of the Archdiocesan Parish Audit Function. The Senior Auditor Assists parishes/schools in understanding and complying with civil law, internal controls and Archdiocesan financial and administrative policies and procedures, through financial, operational and compliance audits. Develops audit procedures to provide customer service to parishes, schools, their related councils and committees and Archdiocesan staff.The Senior Auditor reviews and prepares detailed reports on parishes/schools financial operations, canon and civil compliance and internal controls, making appropriate recommendations to improve financial and business processes.

The Senior Auditor / Safe Environment Coordinator is responsible for the oversight and operation of the Archdiocesan Parish Audit Function and the Safe Environment Program. The Senior Auditor oversees the review process of the financial records and financial management processes at the parishes and schools to ensure compliance with archdiocesan and parish standards and policies. The senior auditor reviews and prepares detailed reports on parish internal controls and makes appropriate recommendations to improve financial and business processes which includes training, program operations, background check operations and compliance monitoring and reporting. The Safe Environment Coordinator (SEC) serves a critical role in the monitoring of the Decree on Child Protection. As such, the SEC is responsible to oversee the operation of the Archdiocesan Safe Environment Program which includes training, program operations, background check operations and compliance monitoring and reporting.

The Parish Auditor reviews the financial records and financial management processes at the parishes and schools to ensure compliance with archdiocesan standards and policies. The auditor also prepares detailed reports on parish internal controls findings and makes appropriate recommendations to the Chief Financial Officer to improve parish internal controls, financial and business processes.

Senior Accountant, handling client accounts projects in diverse fields such as manufacturing, nonprofit, local governments, school districts, construction and general industries.• Conducted financial, compliance, information system, and operational audits resulting in improved controls and operating efficiencies. • Working with clients to review annual closing entries, reversing entries, and various accrual spreadsheets.• Working with clients to improve internal controls, staff understanding of accounting practices, and understanding and prevention of fraud. • Reviewing audit results to complete audit reports, financial statements and addition reports as required. Completing management letter recommendations, taking into account client staffing and industry best practices. • Conducting A133 audits ensuring compliance with grant agreements, Federal and State laws and regulations, reviewing compliance with Ohio Revised Code for local governments and school districts.• Identified sales tax savings at local area school retrieving 2 year back payments and saving 5% of debt budget over a 5 year time period. • Planning, scheduling, and directing 12 engagements per year and assisting in the completion of an additional 18 audits per year, resulting in all audits completed on time and under budget. Supervised and trained staff accountants in all audit management aspects.

I was in the Navy for over 24 years. The combination of both active and reserve duty allowed me to gain real experience in working with and managing a very diverse work force. I had the opportunity to work side by side with some of the most profession individuals in the country. I advanced through the enlisted ranks throughout my service filling multiple support and leadership positions. Active Duty for 8 years • Was one of 6 out of a class of 36 to complete 2nd class Deep-Sea Diver training course. Worked as a Repair Diver on various ships on the west coast and various overseas ports.• Completed 1st Deep-Sea Diver training course - trained as a diving supervisor and deep diver methods.• Worked at COMSUBDEV GRP I as a submarine rescue diver, in charge of maintenance & proper operation of a 60 ft. dive boat, and 26 ft. Admiral’s barge.Joined the Navy Reserves for 16 years and served in a Cargo Handling Battalion, provided longshoreman activities in combat and non-combat roles worldwide.• Recalled to Desert Strom as a Hatch Captain responsible for 10 personnel during ammo handling operations.• Completed tour as Detachment Officer in Charge - responsible for 37 personnel. Subsequently transferred to HQ, were I completed rotations as Command Senior Enlisted Advisor, Command Bosn’, and Safety Officer for 212 personnel.• Port Safety Officer during recall to Operation Iraqi Freedom for over 350 naval personnel and various military units operating within the Port of Shuaiba during the 2004/05 unloading and back loading operations. Responsibilities included compliance with military, federal and local laws and regulations working with liaison team to coordinate emergency response of local emergency services.Retired in 2005, as a Senior Chief Boatswainsmate, receiving the Army Commendation medal, Navy Achievement medal and various other personal and unit awards during my career.

Construction Safety Manager during cleanup activities at the Feed Mill at Fernald, Ohio.• Directly responsible for the oversight of specialized construction activities during the clean-up and decommission of the facilities. Worked with union and management personnel to ensure compliance with Federal and State laws and regulations.• Made recommendations to update or change construction plans to complete tasks and meet safety requirements with a minimal disturbance to the overall scope of the project thereby completed 7 years and 1.7 million man hours without a loss time incident.• Trained or scheduled training for up to 150 company personnel to work within radiation and hazardous areas.• Certified as a Construction Health and Safety Technician. Completed OSHA 500 Train the Trainer course, qualified to teach the 10 and 30 hour courses for construction safety..

Fire & Safety Inspector at DOE Fernald, Ohio.• Started as a basic firefighter on the Emergence Response Team (ERT) and advanced to On-Duty lead inspector in charge of the ERT. Directed emergency response activities for the ERT and local response personnel.• Researched and implemented an inventory tracking system of over 1000 fire extinguishers. This lead to improved tracking of planned maintenance and improved loss prevention.• EMT / Firefighter completed professional firefighting training, further received specialized training in Confined Space, High & Low angle rescue and OSHA 501 Train the Trainer course.
