Working with the woodland manager to schedule, prioritise and carry out a range of woodland management activities at CAT’s 20 acres of woodland. Training and working with long-term volunteers and work including thinning, coppicing, invasive species removal, fencing, firewood and charcoal production, biodiversity surveys, green woodworking, footpath maintenance and site development.

A 6 month volunteering placement to get practical experience in a range of woodland management practices including thinning, coppicing, fencing, firewood, charcoal production, biodiversity surveys and green woodworking. CAT has approximately 20 acres of woodland under management - a mix of broadleaves and conifers, most of which are of a similar age. Working with the woodland manager to achieve three main goals: to enhance biodiversity, harvest useful products and share knowledge.

From employee engagement via the company’s intranet and content management of the public-facing website, to the development of company literature and supporting external media activity during major incidents. All aimed at reinforcing brand identity and improving communication with stakeholders. Working in the Environment and Regeneration Department of a busy London Council, this job focussed on the research, collection and analysis of land-use data. Shop surveys and borough-wide residential and industrial site visits to establish project completion. This culminated in the production of land use reports for planning officers. Establishing new and maintaining existing internal databases for policy monitoring purposes and assisting with the production of public consultations.
