I later joined Nottingham CPS and worked as a Senior Crown Prosecutor before accepting an offer to work in the commercial team in Partnerships & Purchasing at Rolls-Royce (Aerospace) where I worked to secured contracts and managed commercial activities with a range of international customers. I reviewed warranty provisions in General Terms Agreement, considered technical reports and data to determine whether workmanship was in breach of warranty.Further contracts included the Trent 1000 shakedown and cross calibration agreement. I drafted and worked to agree clauses in issue with a view to signature, provided commercial support to engine leasing, negotiated terms of lease with SAESL, and re-drafted the agreement in accordance with the agreed amendments. I considered a breach of a lease agreement for a Trent 700 engine, working in consultation with the Chief Engineer to consider R-R’s legal position. Invoice disputes formed a further aspect of my work. I worked on a Projects Zero Dispute and delivered a presentation to the Global Sourcing Board.My role included drafting commercial authorisations, and partnering the legal and compliance team to agree ABC language. I worked with the international tax manager to draft agreement clauses from a Singapore perspective. With regard to Intellectual Property, I discussed terms to be incorporated in a mature engine management agreement with a view to protecting R-R IP rights for new tooling that SAESL may develop at the Overhaul Base. I also meet and test measurement personnel (to agree with SAESL timelines for test schedule for T1000 cross calibration) chief engineers and services executives to discuss open commercial issues with the JV.
