My key responsibilities are to (1) keep irrigation product inventory at an optimal level by ensuring master data accuracy and continuously updating and maintain inventory parameters; (2) review replenishment proposals daily by interrogating quantities to order by using ABC class, lead times, historic data (ADC) and future growth (forecasts/growth factor, etc.); (3) place accurate orders on time with relevant suppliers, whilst complying with limits of authority with regards to purchase order values; (4) collaborate with product management and sales teams to discuss specific product requirements and stock levels; (5) assist internal sales division with project related (non-standard) buy-outs; (6) source and establish good working relationships with local and international suppliers; (7) expedite inventory from these suppliers to ensure customer satisfaction and timeous supplier commitment; (8) analyse stock movements on a weekly basis and taking pro-active steps to avoid stock-outs, as well as excessive stock levels; and (9) assist with all irrigation training and technical support.

I was responsible for the purchasing of irrigation stock in line with the budget (stock include technical, micro, drip and quick-coupling irrigation; irrigation valves, filters and water meters; low-medium-high pressure fire fighter units; fertilizer pumps and tanks). I also negotiated and managed relationships with suppliers. I expanded current product ranges through market research. My objective was to maintain the GP margins of all product ranges, to test the effectiveness of product lines and forecast the expected sales for each product. I also handled all technical irrigation enquiries on products.
