On this project I was employed as the Assistant Resident Engineer supervising the doubling of the Gwaing River Bridge crossing on National Route 2 in South Africa. The bridge was constructed over the Gwaing River which flows all year round. The bases of the bridge was found on piled footings which connected to the abutment and pier walls. The deck was seated on pot bearings and was pre-stressed (Post Tension) after casting. The existing N2 was re-aligned to allow for cars travelling in the eastbound direction to cross over the newly constructed bridge. The roadworks included general earthworks, various layer works as well as a asphalt surfacing to finish the project.My general duties includes the following:- Bridge works supervision.- Piling supervision- Pre-stressing supervision- Earthworks supervision.- Roadworks supervision.- Payment certificates.- Site and technical meetings- General project supervision.

Gabon

During this time I administered the contract for both shore protection works as well as roads inside the mineral port for GSEZ/OLAM. My main duties on site included:- Overseeing the construction of Phase 1 of the shore protection works.- Overseeing the construction of Phase 1 of the port roads and drainage.- Administering the project in terms of the FIDIC conditions of contract.- Managing the inspection of works with a site team of local inspectors.- Liaison between Client and both Contractors for smooth sequence of works.

Libreville, Gabon

During this time I worked as an Assistant Resident Engineer on the new EPC container terminal project in Owendo Port, Gabon - $100mil US. This job comprised of some 700m of quay side for the import and export of grain silo and palm oil as well as general cargo container ships. The job was constructed by the boring of 700piles, the placement of some 700 pile caps, 700 beams, 1600 slabs and a in-situ slab to complete the superstructure. My main duties on site included the following:- Managing the progress and quality of the precast concrete yard.- Managing the quality control of three concrete batching plants.- Inspecting various piling activities.- Managing the placement of precast beams, slabs and pile caps at quay side.- Managing large In-situ deck pours for the entire superstructure.- Supervising the earth and layer works for Port roads.- Chairing daily progress meetings with Client and Contractor.- Submitting daily reports to client and head office.- Ensuring QA/QC processes are being followed.- Signing of RFI forms, inspection checklists and pour cards (QA/QC).- Managing and mentoring local inspectors to monitor parts of the works.

Kroonstad Area, South Africa

During this time I worked as an Assistant Resident Engineer on the Upgrading of the National Route 1, Section 17, from Ventersburg to Holfontein Interchange in the Free State province of South Africa- $50mil US. This project included the upgrading of the existing carriage way as well as constructing a new North Bound carriage, including 5 major bridges and 11 in-situ culverts. On this project I was employed as the senior of two Assistant RE`s mainly supervising the major concrete works. My main duties on site included the following:- Construction supervision- Major concrete works supervision (Bridges and Culverts)- Drainage supervision- Site assistance at all levels- Obtain and compile monthly measured quantities for payment certificates- Minutes for site meetings- Site Admin

Winburg, Free State, South Africa

During this time I worked as an Assistant Resident Engineer on the rehabilitation of National Route N5 between Winburg and Senekal in the Free State province of South Africa - $20mil US. On this project I was supervising all aspects of the works from general earthworks, layerworks, seal works as well as the construction of 2 bridges and numerous precast culverts.
