Studies of tropical agriculture and forestry at the State University of Gent, Belgium. My professional experience started in Belgium at a private forest estate (forest management and reforestation) and at Eurosense (mapping, forest inventory and aerial picture interpretation). From 1984 up to 2002 I worked in tropical countries, responsible for forest inventory (inventory of timber and non-timber forest products), forest logging, forest fire management, tree nurseries, sustainable forest management and social forester, first at the National Forest Administration of Surinam, thereafter at Bruynzeel Surinam as forest exploitation manager(1974-1987), in Burundi as forest manager(1987-1991), in Indonesia (1991-1998) and in Papua New Guinea (2001-2002) both last positions as general manager and forestry expert. From April until June 2000, I accomplished several short-term missions to Indonesia, Peninsular Malaysia and Thailand. From 1999 until 2011, when not abroad, I was teacher in forestry related matters at the university and in several secondary schools (sciences, agriculture, horticulture, economy and mathematics). From 2005 until 2008 I was technical and commercial assistant at an importer, wholesaler and distributor of ecological construction materials, FSC labeled timber and natural paints. From 2009 to 2010 I was director and researcher at the POVLT (Provincial Research Centre for agriculture and horticulture) of the mushroom research department (tissue culture, domestication of mushrooms, production). Since 2008 I accepted again several forestry and agriculture missions to tropical countries. First I went to Togo for Ex-Change, than I did several missions to the Democratic Republic of Congo. Actually I am working for KBT Belgium as strategic operation and management consultant and QC expert in several factories in Ninghai, Ningbo, East China producing playground toys in wood, PP and metal.
