In building a new Joint Venture between AEGION INTERNATIONAL and ROBOR PTY LTD, I combine experience, good Engineering know-how, strong leadership and above all a clear vision to create what is known as AEGION SOUTH AFRICA. I am extremely proud of the team we have assembled and linked with the absolute best technology and service levels, this business has started punching well above its humble beginnings. This is reflected in top line growth and solid results.

Shareholder in the biggest privately owned Steel business in SA. Two MBO phases meant a restructure and refocus of the Robor Group, making this very much an Entrepreneurial Venture. My role in consolidation of primary Operations and the expansion of the Value Added business required an effective and lean investment strategy that was executed to extremely high standards at all levels. This has paved the way for additional acquisitions, which were merged with the necessary focus on achieving proper synergy as well as symbiosis. My role handles diverse aspects of management with a very strong strategic technology and project execution slant. A long term competitive edge remains key to our success.

Moved to Robor Industrial Holdings, the biggest producer of steel, Tube and Pipe in South Africa. Various roles fulfilled during this period starting as the Engineering Manager (3 years) for the Manufacturing Operation. Promoted to General Manager where I obtained excellent business skills and also headed Group R&D. Registered three tube related SA patents and assisted with many more. (3 years). Was promoted to the Group Technical Exec in 2005 responsible for all Engineering, R&D, SHEQ, Capital Investment Projects and Strategy for the Group reporting to the CEO. During the period I obtained my GCC (factories). I also completed the GIBS EDP,( University Pretoria).

An extremely dynamic period in the history of Columbus when over R3,5Bn was spent on the biggest steel plant upgrade RSA had ever seen. I was involved is all aspects of the upgrade and eventually managed the production and maintenace functions for the Hot Strip finishing and Steckel Mill area. A hands-on period that that resulted in an accelerated learning curve.
