It transformed the Mint from a state owned factory, fully reliant on imports, to a commercial business exporting to 33 countries around the world.2. Building a highly automated production plant for the South African Mint. I designed, built, commissioned and managed the factory of the South African Mint, a highly automated manufacturing plant. It increased annual production capabilities from 300 million to 1,2 billion units per annum, whilst reducing labour in the coin minting division from 300 people to 11 people per shift. The project was recognized by the Smithsonian Institute of Technology.3. Changing the South African coinage system. I successfully proposed a change in the South African coinage system to Cabinet and then implemented the new coinage system. This made South Africa independent from expensive international imports of coinage, amounting to a present value saving in foreign currency of R80 billion since 1990. -
