The scope included an upgrade to the nickel circuit including a new leach autoclave and associated tankage.The major portion of the scope was a new High Security Area (HSA). The new HSA was an entire new building filled with process equipment, workshops, satellite laboratory, offices, high security vault area, utilities gantries, new sub station, transformer bays, process scrubbers, building ventilation and a X-ray for scanning everything leaving through the double door air lock. The change house comes integral with a low dose X-ray scanner for the personnel. The approved budget for this project was R598 million.Responsibility for the process design remained with the Owners Team.Overall project accountability remained with me. I reported into a Project Steering Committee consisting of the project sponsors (Impala and the EPCM contractor), and the Impala Operations Executive.Monthly reporting on the project status to the Impala Steering Committee consisting of the Impala Operations Executive, Senior Refineries Managers and the Impala Group Executive responsible for projects.Communication with and between all project stakeholders, including government, senior management, the client and the EPCM Contractor.Final approval of all project procedures, specifications, procurement documentation and orders, and all documentation impacting on the project Key Performance Indicators of cost, schedule and scope. Accountability included monthly reporting on progress to an independent Steercom, managing and implementing project procedures and systems, cost, schedule and scope control for the projects and taking control of the project capital plan for the year.Project Manager that led the Owner's Team working with an EPCM contractor on a feasibility study to derive a Cost Budget Estimate (CBE) to 10% accuracy for the installation of a new HSA and associated equipment within the BMR. The owner's team was based full time at the EPCM premises. The CBE was R28 million and the project around R600 million.Responsible for the capital application process which included a presentation to a Project Advisory Committee consisting of a previous CEO and senior management, a presentation to the current Director in charge of capital projects and finally to the Board of Directors.PROJECT CO-ORDINATOR - AMBATOVY PROJECTProject Co-ordinator working with the Project Manager to manage a R53 million Bankable Feasibility Study for a proposed new BMR with the capacity to treat 60,000 tonnes per annum of nickel.
