Reference is a self-organised network of independent European news publishers, that support each other to address non-editorial organisational and business challenges, and advocate collectively for the wellbeing and financial sustainability of independent, public interest media. As the coordinator I: Coordinate governance and decision-making processes, participate in strategic planning and fundraising, manage membership administration, and organise membership meetings.Support Member Initiatives: Assist with member-led activities and initiatives, such as working groups, and support various network activities.Financial Management: Aid the finance manager with budgeting, spending monitoring, financial reporting, and manage grant reporting and documentation.Project Management: Oversee project timelines and deadlines, manage the EU-funded Journalism Value Project, including financial monitoring, reporting, and supporting project activities.

TRF works to advance media freedom, foster more inclusive economies, and promote human rights through news, media development, free legal assistance, training and convening initiatives. Among my responsibilities:Led on the ‘go-to-market’ plan for TRFilter, targeting beneficiaries consisting of TRF programme alumni, partner newsrooms, and the wider journalism ecosystem. Scoped, researched and managed initiatives to evangelise the tool, its purpose and usage. Mapped, built and managed relationships with key players in media freedom globally. Spearheaded the Foundation’s Online Safety Policy and Protocols.Trained journalists and CSOs in Online Safety and Digital Security Managed TRF’s role within the Media Viability Accelerator, implemented by Internews.

As Programmes Manager I lead the work of the Assistance and Training initiatives at the Trust. I ensure that RPT maintains the highest standard of quality and efficiency in all its projects. I oversee the Assistance and Training teams as they lead innovative projects to improve the safety of freelance journalists in Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. I am responsible for developing, administering, and evaluating RPT’s projects and overseeing the flow of information within the Trust.

The Journalist Assistance Manager leads on all assistance provision at the Rory Peck Trust, working to the Trust’s remit and sustaining its unique role within a community of civil society organisations working to support journalists around the world.

Fundamedios is an NGO based in Ecuador which focuses on freedom of speech and press freedom. I worked in four specific areas, focused on gathering information about the violations to communicators across the American region, generating communications campaigns and products to bring awareness of the situation to the public and to decision-makers. I acted as the point of liaison for partner organizations and associates such as IFEX, PADF, Article 19, CPJ. Establishing collaborative networks to respond and record all the abuses and violations to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals 16.10.1 and 16.10.2, and provide training to journalists on newsgathering, and safe and responsible reporting. I was also part of the advisory committee focused on creating a first security plan for risk coverage in Ecuador to develop a Security Mechanism that supports journalistic practice.

As a freelance journalist for multiple media outlets in Ecuador, such as La Hora, Extra, Nan Magazine, among others I produced substantial pieces of investigative, cultural, human rights, financial and current affairs journalism. I worked in the Ecuadorian media and press outlets in parallel to my studies, before deciding to advance my career further by offering my versatile portfolio of journalism skills to the Latin American civil society sector. I have a robust understanding of the Latin American political system and economic policies.

I supported editorial staff in all activities (sub-editing, proofreading, production) leading to the publication of Visible Justice, a student-run journal focused on topics such as migration, the refugee situation in the UK, climate change, knife crime, etc.

I researched, wrote, and edited product descriptions and posts to position an Ecuadorian E-Commerce platform. The information was produced in English and Spanish to make it appealing and engaging in both languages for diverse audiences.

Extra is the highest-selling newspaper in Ecuador. I was a part of the current affairs team and covered elaborate pieces of public interest, such as the work I did during the 2016 earthquake and its aftermath. I also wrote features on trending and taboo topics in the country, such as Drag Queens, BDSM, or Taxi Dancers, all of which achieved over 10k hits on the day they were published.

I reported in all sections of the newspaper and worked on a variety of topics the outlet covers, ranging from Health to Finance. I was the special correspondent in Peru for tourism and cultural affairs those articles were published in the international section of both La Hora and Peruvian outlets.
