As director of the UNAIDS Washington office, advocated for increases in US Government’s contribution to UNAIDS with the contribution increasing each year; working with a large coalition, advocated over three years for the lifting of HIV travel and immigration restrictions spanning two US presidential administrations; successfully advocated with many others for reauthorization of US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief including language to lift the HIV travel and immigration restrictions from immigration law; arranged for financing and leading the first ever International Day Against Homophobia (IDAHO) event at the World Bank in collaboration with the bank’s LGBTI staff network; addressed American Bar Association Association’s AIDS Coordinating Committee on UNAIDS position opposing criminalizing HIV transmission; produced four public fora in 2010 on gender, epidemiology, and most at risk groups in the US Capitol. As head of the HP government affairs office in Washington, advised HP CEO on several high profile visits with the President, Cabinet and Members of Congress; helped achieve major tax and trade victories; represented HP in a U.S. government delegation to Africa on HIV/AIDS issues.
