Profile bio

About John Andrade, Lcsw

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 5+ years of experience in the mental health field. For the past 2+ years, I have supported older adults with mental health and substance use needs as both a Behavioral Health Therapist and as a Clinical Case Manager at Curry Senior Center, a community agency in the Tenderloin District of San Francisco. In 2021, I graduated from the Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work at University of Southern California, receiving my MSW with a focus on Adult Mental Health and Wellness. Throughout graduate school, I provided therapeutic support services to transitional-aged youth as a Graduate Mental Health Intern at Treasure Island Job Corps Wellness Center. Prior to my graduate studies, I served individuals with developmental disabilities as a Critical Intervention Specialist at CBEM LLC. In this position, I provided crisis behavioral intervention through weekly visits with clients and their circles of support, as well as immediate assistance via the agency's 24/7 crisis hotline. Before entering the field of mental health, I served students with disabilities through the roles of Education Specialist at KIPP Northern California in San José. In that position, my role was to serve students with moderate to severe needs, such as Autism and Intellectual Disability. The pillars of my classroom were academics as well as prevocational and social skills crucial for my students to live fulfilling, independent lives as adults. Before relocating to California, I served special education students in an inclusion setting in Harlem, New York City as a Teach For America corps member. In New York, I taught 7th and 8th grade ELA, math, and social studies, striving to push my students towards success, both in academics and throughout their lives as critically conscious young people.

Listed skills include Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, Public Speaking, Education, and 5 others.
