Vector Ecologist
CurrentInitially hired as Biologist/Information Specialist. Position was changed to Vector Ecologist in 2009. Developed first computer relational database (Microsoft Access) used by the District for tracking everything from payroll to insect surveillance to field activities, including tracking of pesticide applications. Public speaking, including training of new hires, continuing education talks, and outreach presentations to press and public groups of all types. Chief author of the District's annual report from about 2000 - 2008. Direction of Districts mosquito and mosquito-borne disease surveillance program.Developed and/or cooperated and/or supervised field and lab research projects including field pesticide cage trials, larvicide efficacy studies, evaluation of local mosquito population dynamics, monitoring of mosquito-borne disease - particularly West Nile virus - in the environment within the District, adult mosquito pesticide bottle bioassays, and sampling of mosquitoes for knockdown resistance (KDR) gene testing.
