I was promoted to Production shift manager in 2005 and took over a group of individuals and help mould them into a focused team who worked very well together, this was done through regular team briefs and line walks to specify continual improvements within the department. In this period of time, I dealt with disciplinary matters, learned excel, Microsoft and ppt practices and regular cell review meetings liaising with engineering managers for continuous improvement of the lines. I gained my ILM level 3 qualification in this period of time and was involved in the gaining of our ISO 14001 creditation environmental management site certificate.

I gained my semi and fully skilled headings within 12 months, progressing through the grading system. I learned to run various pieces of machinery including the fillers, packing and offline duties. I was involved in Quality control checks throughout the production line ensuring all checks were done to a high level of focus. I was also involved in moulding a strong, focused team who took pride in the end product that landed on the retailers shelves.

I started as an operator and quickly developed a good knowledge of the production process. I quickly worked my way through the grading system learning to use high tech equipment including the sterilisation of the production lines. I gained my counterbalance forklift licence, basic food hygiene and COSHH certificates within the company.
