I am one of the rare masochists who intend to make car sales a career rather than a job. I am lucky to work for a dealership that allows me the freedom to market and brand myself individually. They are also in agreement with me that providing a more transparent car buying experience is what will gain you an edge in this market and is what this industry really needs. I think people are so used to gimmickry that their first reaction to any claim made by a car dealership is that "there must be more to it" or "I'm sure there is the catch". So I feel that being upfront and honest, maybe educating people a little bit, may help to dispel those preconceptions. I think, the first time a person sits down with a salesman at a car dealership and has a truly "comfortable" experience will go a long way towards referrals and repeat business. And that's how you turn this "job into a "career"! Who knows, maybe the rest of the industry will follow and those perceptions will no longer exist!
