Full Time Emergency Physician & Facility Medical Director @ Texas Health ER, Watauga. Prior to this current position, I worked directly for the Executive Medical Director of ADEPTUS/National Professions, for the past three years as his first Area Medical Director, over the DFW, Austin, & Colorado Facilities, and subsequently as his senior advisor, in which involved mainly research to enhance our existing formulary and medical equipment needs that are unique to the Stand Alone ER's and help justify the importance of such for procurement. I was also was involved with the initial development of our comprehensive Quality &Peer Review process, and I have and continue to worked with our marketing department and Facility Medical Directors, to help identify and then work closely with their Professional Community,both specialist and primary care physicians, for purposes of developing a referral and consultative base for our Stand Alone Emergency Rooms. In addition, I advise him on EMS issues as they arise because of my ongoing EMS Medical Direction that I have been providing for nearly 30 years.

I have been involved as a EMS Medical Director since 1987 in North Texas. I have given them direction thru developement and implementing advanced medical protocols, PQRS, and education. I have also represented my Paramedic's, by participating and holding vital leadership positions, @ the Local, Regional, State, and National level. For many years I was appointed to the Texas DHHS, Governor's Emergency Trauma Advisory Counsil (GETAC), EMS Medical Directors Committee, Chairman of the TCEP EMS Committee, and the North Central Texas Trauma Regional Advisor Counsil (NCTTRAC) Emergency Medical Director's Representive to the Executive Committee. I was appointed to this management position shortly after joining FCER in December of 2011. I answered directly to the Executive Medical Director, for the clinical piece, and to our COO, for Operational issues. I was responsible for providing training and guidance, to our Facility Medical Directors & Staff Physicians. My goals & direction, was first and foremost to ensure that a high quality of care was being provided to our patients seeking care at our Emergency Rooms. And, that every physician maintained a caring attitude to achieve excellent patient satisfaction. During my tenor as AMD, our CEO's goal, was to expand and build new facilities, in at least a dozen cities, starting with two States, at an unbelievably fast pace. His agenda of building and staffing two ER's per month, became a reality. And this phenomenal growth, is still continuing aggressively, and will far into the unforseen future, as is necessary to satisfy the growing need, for this unique Emergent Health Care delivery system. Although my position as AMD no longer exist, I very happy to be offered a lateral position, in which I did & currently hold, that kept @ corporate, working closely with the EMD, & that also allows me to continue working clinically as well.

Starting in 1986, I joined the Dept. of Family Practice @ Baylor GV, and became Chairman of that Dept. in 1989-2006. I was appointed the hospital Physician Advisor, and was in charge of the QA & Peer Review processes, as well as the early developement of the Medical Ethics, Credentials, and Executive Committee's. In 1997, I became a staff physician in the ER, and continued as the Director of EMS services, and as a Faculty Instructor for PAL'S and ACLS. For the last 5 years, I was appointed as the AHA's (Baylor Campus) Program Director, for the ACLS & PALS Program's. I left the Baylor Emergency Department in late 2011, & joined FCER's Team.

I was the Senior Medical Officer, with the rank of Colonel 0-6, over 5 States in the Southwest Central US.and answered to a Two Star General Officer, and our Mission was taking care of War Fighter's. We planned training, developed operational plans, & prepared soldiers for over-seas deployment and as well as for their demobilization & return home. Medical Readiness, was our main focus, in which encompasses all aspects of the soldiers health, making sure that they were fit for duty, esp. overseas in austere conditions, post 911. I was responsible for the Army's "Drug Reduction" mission and was the Division's Medical Review Officer, responsible for review & disposition of soldiers who failed their drug screen. I had a team of 6 officers and 7 enlisted personnel.We took care of over 22,000 US Army Reserve troops in Texas, Arkansas, Louisianna, Olklahoma, and New Mexico. Upon retirement, I was awarded the highest Medal of Valor, that is not associated with active combat, the Legion of Merit.
