I have expertise and experience in emergency management with a specialisation in incident management, leadership, and capability development. This includes responding to public safety, biosecurity, food safety, animal welfare, adverse event, and trade incidents using New Zealand CIMS as well as ensuring adequate contingency measures are in place to support effective response operations by developing readiness, response and contingency plans.My background includes the development of inter-agency operational capability and capacity in emergency management and incident response by leading the development of national capability and competency frameworks, building response teams, facilitating National Coordination Centre and CIMS training, along with planning all-of-government exercises as part of the New Zealand National Exercise Programme.In addition, I have proven experience of providing high-quality policy, strategic and operational advice to Senior Managers, Governance Board Members, and Ministers within organisation, across government and when coordinating New Zealand’s involvement and representation in international governmental forums and working groups.My involvement in, and passion for, emergency management and disaster response extends beyond my employment to my ongoing involvement with nationally-registered New Zealand volunteer response teams who provide a response to emergencies in coordination with the NZ Police and Fire & Emergency New Zealand. In addition, I am a search dog handler with the NZ USAR Search Dog Association who provide a search dog capability to each of the three FENZ USAR Task Forces.
