The Council of Governors at an NHS Foundation Trust have a duty to hold the Trust Board of Directors to account ensuring good governance. The council has a number of sub committees of which I chair the Service Strategy Sub Committe and and am a member of the Appointments sub committee.

TravelWatch Midlands West represents passengers using all forms of public transport ensuring their views are made known to the service providers. It's remit covers public transport users in Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire, and each of the West Midlands Metropolitan Borough Councils areas. TravelWatch liases with other passenger watchdogs such as Passenger Focus and Bus Users UK in order to encourage transport providers to use best practice in providing services. We hold surgeries in various locations in order to meet face to face with passengers. The Statutory body 'Midlands Rail Passengers Committee' (now disbanded by government) of which I was then Deputy Chair represented rail passengers only, but recognised the need for integration for passengers using all forms of public transport, was instrumental in getting the then embryo TravelWatch organisation up and running. Today a number of regional TravelWatch organisations exist covering most areas of the UK.

The Rail Passengers Committee for the Midlands was a statutory body charged with promoting and protecting the interests of rail users or potential rail users in the Midlands. It engaged in consultations with the Strategic Rail Authority, Department for Transport, Office of the Rail Regulator and UK Train Operators operating passenger services within or across the East & West Midlands
