As a site security officer my duties include assisting customers on the retail park, monitoring the CCTV, conducting regular patrols watching for any health and safety issues and assisting retail outlets with the detention of shoplifters. Since starting work at Cheshire Oaks I have a Level 2 NVQ Qualification in Customer Service. I have also attended one day courses and gained First Aid At Work, Automatic Defibrillator, Lift Rescue and Fire Marshall certificates. Wrexham

Loss Prevention Officer HMV Wrexham. In this post I was responsible for ensuring that all loss prevention procedures were carried out correct-ly by all members of staff. I carried out regular stock checks and investigated any shortages, reporting my findings to the Store Manager. I also carried out regular staff searches. Part of my duties were to monitor the CCTV system in order to detect shoplifters. Since the store opened I detected and detained a number of offenders. I was also responsible for arranging stock counts. I successfully completed a basic course in Health and Safety in the workplace. I also undertook a two day Maybo Con-flict Management course. I received basic Cash Office training and am now able to cash up and bank the previous day’s takings. HMV Wrexham became an unofficial training store with managers in the region sending new Loss Prevention Officers to Wrexham for their training.In January 2013 HMV went into administration and in March 2013 the Wrexham store closed and I was made redundant.

CCTV Controller within the Property Services Department of Wrexham County Borough Council. The main duties of a CCTV Controller are to monitor the town’s CCTV system and watch for any incidents that might have to be reported to the Police. These included shop and vehicle crime, drugs offences and incidents of violence and disorder.

TK Maxx Loss Prevention Associate (LPA). Loss Prevention is a managerial position within TK Maxx. After company training in Salford I worked in the Warrington store until a position became vacant in Wrexham. The LPA although being part of the store team works independently on his own initiative and is not accountable to the store manager but reports to the District Loss Prevention Manager. The main responsibility of the LPA within TK Maxx is to minimise loss to the company. The company believe that they lose more money through internal dishonesty than external theft. Therefore although the LPA has to detect and apprehend shoplifters the main duties are to monitor the staff. In order to do this I carried out strategic taping of members of staff, either randomly or targeted if any had shown alert signals. I also had to ensure that all procedures regarding stock control, cash office, refunds, key control, damaged stock etc. were complied with in order to pass regular Security Audits and also to ensure that the security related sections of the main store audit were satisfactory. I was responsible for the physical security of the store and was a key holder being the first point of contact if the alarms were activated out of hours. I was also responsible for the security systems ensuring that the alarms and CCTV were correctly used and maintained.

Wrexham/Broughton

I joined Tesco as "Systems Security" prior to opening of new Tesco Store at Broughton, near Chester, and assisted in setting up security procedures, including liaison with other stores on Retail Park. Main duties involved operating CCTV system in order to minimise stock losses. Various detentions and arrests of suspects resulted. Undertook investigations for Store Manager and Customer Service Manager and built up contacts with local Police. Because of low crime levels at Broughton, I applied for transfer to new Wrexham Extra Store where crime is higher and there was more work to do. I began work at Wrexham, again as "Systems Security" on 03/07/00, prior to store's opening, and again assisted in setting up CCTV and security procedures. When the Job Role was introduced I was promoted to the post of "Store Security". This post had the same job description as a Store Security Manager, except that I did not carry out job, sickness or disciplinary interviews. Neither did I carry out reviews and appraisals. In this role I was responsible for the day-to-day running of the Security Department. I was responsible for supervising the three Guards and three Customer Champions. I built up a very good working relationship with the Police, Town CCTV and Security Officers from other retail outlets. I liaised closely with other members of staff of all levels on matters of security. I also ensured that all relevant incidents were reported to Head Office and to the Regional Loss Prevention Manager.

Liverpool/Chester

Police Constable with British Transport Police. After training at No.3 PTC, Warrington, I was stationed at Lime Street Station, Liverpool. Following completion of probationary period, I was attached to the Mobile Support Unit and later posted to the District Police Office in Chester. I worked there largely alone and unsupervised. I also had an attachment to the C.I.D. in Crewe.
