Provide oversight of future and current development, management and operation of Transpower's Market System. The role also provides support for real-time users of the systems and also to interface with internal IST Market Systems team to ensure the Market System is operationally fit for purpose. Lastly the role leads the development and implementation of new applications, databases, systems and hardware that evolve as part of the Market System, as well as all operational materials (training and procedures) to support any such implementation.

Introducing John Bartley; I was employed as a Power System Coordinator in the Coordination Center for Transpower NZ Ltd. My primary business role was the dispatch of energy and ancillary services in the New Zealand electricity market and to ensure the New Zealand power system was operated in a secure and reliable state.

Sole responsibility for the sales and marketing of Diesel Generator plant; Duties included generator and switchgear specification and selection, preparation of tender submissions and quotations, calling on and dealing directly with customers, contract administration and developing new business nationally

Member of management team responsible for producing business plans, providing management reporting and information in relation to internal budget control. Coordinated and led several teams, including intranet group and operational information teams. Devised performance metrics, created monthly management report and provided management information needs.

Managed a group of 12 controllers, provided regular coaching and support to the operational team. Performed operational planning and customer communications and part of the team that provided process development work for the wholesale electricity market. Interviewed and recruited controller staff. Coordinated early quality initiatives, provided SCADA/EMS and controller training. Key responsibilities included resource planning and 24 hour roster management.
