• The Tissue Engineering and Cell Culture Laboratory at LA Tech University (Dr. Murray) Lab Assistant: Experience with the use of cell culture hoods, incubators, centrifuges, and a liquid nitrogen storage container.Tested different concentrations of carbachol to maximize frequency uptake of calcium in Sh-Ep1 cells with α7 subunit. Measured using epi-fluorescence microscopy and MatLab analysis post experiment. Co-authored a conference paper entitled The Alpha7-Beta2 Nicotinic Receptor and Its Roles in Amyloid Beta Pathology in Alzheimer’s Disease (Southern Biomedical Engineering Conference, March 2016).• The Integrated Neuroscience Imaging Laboratory at LA Tech University (Dr. Murray) Lab Assistant: Experience with in vivo research; specifically mice.Perform behavioral tests on mice including social interaction and tail suspension to determine possible behavioral changes from traumatic brain injuries in mice. Analyzed data from videos taken during tests.• The Brain Dynamics Laboratory at LA Tech University (Dr. Iasemidis)Lab Assistant: Experience with signal processing in time and frequency domains using MatLab.Processed EEG signals and analyzed data from processed EEGs for seizure prediction in epileptic patients by using linear discriminant analysis of the coherence of frequency bands and spectral entropy. Analyzed clinical EEG data and hemodynamic data to develop an algorithm that determines the depth of anesthesia in patients undergoing surgery.
