I am currently the owner and General Manager of EcoFriends Homes. I find, renovate and sell or keep homes as investments in the Colorado Springs Area. I buy distressed homes in the best neighborhoods and do deep renovations - with a green leaning renovation whenever I can. What is a green home in Colorado, you ask? The greenest home is the one that isn't built. I focus on renovations and keep the best aspects and as much structure as I can to reduce waste. If zoning allows, I add additional units to maximize density and minimize environmental impact. I reinvigorate structure and provide tight shells that meet or exceed IECC standards. I properly abate lead and asbestos hazards in the home. We size heating and air conditioning appropriately using Manual J calculations to save energy and add heat recovery ventilators if possible to increase fresh air in the home without significant energy loss. We use smart controls for thermostats, irrigation and lighting and efficient systems to make homes as durable and low operating cost as possible. I started my professional career as an Army Engineer working in combat roles and later construction units and the Army Corps of Engineers. After leaving the military, I gathered experience working for a commercial general contractor, CM consultant and, more recently, Development/Asset Management and Energy Management.
