I consistently… Show more Throughout my 12 month placement year I worked specifically within the Design & Tendering Team at Murphy Ireland. In this role I was responsible for assisting in various new tendering applications for projects in the water and wastewater treatment sectors. This included the process design calculations and tendering assessment for upgrade projects to existing sites operated by Murphy, and the design and pricing of new wastewater treatment projects within Ireland and the UK. I consistently liaised and conversed with suppliers informing them of project design specifications and obtained quotations for all relevant equipment for each project. I completed further process design work for several projects including pump head calculations and other wastewater and sludge treatment design elements. I completed my final year Research Project as part of my Masters Degree with UCD during my placement with Murphy. This thesis focused on an assessment of the most environmentally friendly sludge treatment techniques across the wastewater treatment sector in Ireland by analysis of the carbon footprint associated with the sludge treatment processes in several WWTPs.
