I am running my own Consultancy, offering my services and experience to the road construction sector. An experienced multi-disciplinary consultant in the fields of soils and materials technology with particular emphasis on highway construction materials and highway structural design. I Have technical experience working with local authorities and the private sector with expertise in the fields of civil engineering materials technology, soils testing and ground investigation, with applications ranging from the specification of materials and their applicability in the field of highway design, the design of highway foundations, the specification and execution of ground investigations, investigations into the failure of highway surfacing and construction. I have considerable knowledge of the selection and specification of surfacing materials and of monitoring their performance. I have a good knowledge of HAUC requirements,materials and testing, including, but not limited to, cementitious and bituminous materials, road coring and subsequent core assessment and testing..An active member of the ADEPT Soils and Materials Design and Specification (SMDS) Group and representing ADEPT at the British Standards Institute, including Chairmanship of B/510/3 Materials for Concrete Roads. Also liaison for B/510, with 2 committees, B/557, release of dangerous substances (RDS) and B/558, Sustainability in Construction. Represents ADEPT at the Highways England UK Pavement Liaison Group.I am Convenor of CEN technical committee working group CEN TC/227/WG 6 Road Materials - Sustainability. WG6 covers all aspects of sustainability, including release of dangerous substances, for road materials.I also act as a Principal Engineer for Socotec UK Ltd on an occasional basis.
