Historical Machinery Consultant
CurrentI consult on a wide variety of aspects related to late 19th century and early 20th century machinery and its operation within the museum context. I specialize in the installation or maintenance of belt-driven machinery, reciprocating steam engines, boilers, and early electrical apparatus. I have also designed and fabricated reproduction items such as arc lamps and incandescent lamps. I do historical analysis of the mechanical and other engineering aspects of domestic and other structures with especial emphasis on electrical wiring. I also give public lectures on these and related subjects.
