Until 2023, I was at Oxford Computer Consultants, a business I started in 1989 with Kaz Librowski and which grew to employ 130+ people before being acquired by System C (a CVC company) in 2023.I believe that my role, as the conductor of the orchestra, is to:- identify, hire and retain the very best people,- give them interesting work, a flexible environment and the opportunity to work with like-minded people,- work out the best opportunities for the company in terms of products and services,- steer a clear route based on a sound knowledge of our markets,- encourage and inspire people to innovate and take risks.My passion for product innovation started when I designed a new product for dynamically mapping hypertext information. The IT press wrote that: "every so often an application comes along that's so simple, and yet so effective, you wonder why someone didn't do it before". OK - that was back in 1994 but it's still my best press review! But don't worry, since then I developed, or helped develop, products in health care, contract management, social networking and for mothers and their babies! I've had my share of failures too. I love product innovation and I'm involved with student groups, Oxford Entrepreneurs and Young Enterprise.
