Intract's John Briggs is a proud Aboriginal man and identifies with the Yorta Yorta people from Cummrugunja, which is part of the Barmah Forest on the Victoria and New South Wales border. John has been an influential source in the formation of Intract. Through his extensive experience in Indigenous training and working within the resources sector, John was instrumental in the launch and development of Intract Indigenous Contractors launched in 2010. Through the partnership of McMahon Services and the Aboriginal Foundation of South Australia, the main objective has been to provide meaningful, long-term skills and employment for Aboriginal people. Intract now boasts 90 employees ranging from managers, supervisors, skilled trade operators, laborer’s and administrators, Intract now reaches an impressive number of 95% Indigenous personnel working full time. This makes Intract one of the largest employers of Indigenous people in South Australia and possibly Australia. John also sits on the boards of: - Intract Australia - Director - South Australian Native Title Services (SANTS) – Director and Board Member- First Nations Advisory Team CRC Time
