MeteorologistNational Weather Service Oct 2022 - PresentLincoln, Illinois, United States• Developed training for the southeast subregion of NWSCR on the utility of ensemble data for crafting useful key messages.• Presented at the 2023 office spring workshop on utility of ensemble data in predicting the March 31st tornado outbreak.• Participated in an HWT evaluation of Probabilistic Hazards Information (PHI), an NSSL developed program which utilizes machine learning to generate continuously evolving hazard grids that can aid forecasters in warning operations and could lead to more equitable lead times.• Participated in an Operations Proving Ground (OPG) experiment aimed to assess the utility of DESI in DSS.• With a fellow forecaster and the office’s SOO, presented to students at the Midwest Student Conference on Atmospheric Research (MSCAR) at the University of Illinois in October of 2023.• Co-led the organization of a tabletop activity which took up the second of a two-day New Madrid exercise led by CR. This exercise assessed weaknesses in the NWS’ infrastructure which offices throughout CR are addressing to become better prepared for an earthquake or other non-meteorological, large-scale disaster.• Has given multiple in-person spotter talks.• Briefed partners in emergency management at the state and county level over the phone, via email, and in-person during a few on-site events.• Currently co-focal pointing the office’s Underserved and Vulnerable Populations Initiative, a new local program designed to reach those traditionally underserved throughout our CWA.• Gave a leadership talk on empathy and its relevance in the work environment at an office staff meeting.• As part of the office culture team, organized several office social events, including dinner, trivia night, and a pancake breakfast.• Helped to create the office’s 2024 annual goals as a member of the Objectives and Key Results (OKR) team.• Worked the radar desk several times during severe weather operations, which included the early morning large hail on June 29th, 2023. -

Meteorology InternNational Weather Service May 2020 - Feb 2021Boise, Idaho, United StatesWas trained to become an operational weather forecaster for the National Weather Service, and worked on a project to enhance the Weather-Ready Nation (WRN) initiative in our county warning area (CWA) by both expanding and strengthening the current network of WRN ambassadors. This included collaboration with Boise State University on a social science research project aimed to prepare the public for hazardous weather by improving their understanding of the appropriate ways to prepare for respond to severe weather and severe weather products issued by the NWS.Following are a few highlights:• Collaborated closely with the office’s Warning Coordination Meteorologist (WCM), Jay Breidenbach, to connect with NWS Boise’s core partners in emergency management.• Led coordination efforts with Boise State University’s Hazards and Climate Resilience Institute (HCRI) – a core NWS Boise partner. This consisted of researching and developing text for several webpages on the HCRI website. The topics of these pages include extreme summer weather, excessive heat, poor air quality due to wildfire smoke, and drought.• Developed and distributed newsletters for the WRN initiative in Warning Forecast Office (WFO) Boise’s CWA. Newsletter topics include excessive heat, wildfire, air quality, and winter travel safety.• Updated the office’s WRN ambassador list in coordination with NWSHQ.• Delivered a presentation on WRN as keynote speaker to community resilience partners at the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) for Gem County, Idaho.• Conducted a virtual meeting to greet and build community with the office’s WRN ambassadors. -
