John Carleton is a senior healthcare operations consultant with extensive experience in healthcare operations, managed care, and revenue cycle management. His career began as a health insurance broker, then commissioned in the USAF as a federal healthcare administrator where he worked in facilities ranging in size from clinic to medical center; from department head to hospital administrator. A strategic planner and FEMA liaison officer, he worked with government agencies to integrate myriad medical response plans. As risk manager & compliance officer, he led teams through 4 successful JCAHO accreditations. He was competitively selected to represent the USAF Medical Service as a senior research fellow with the RAND Corporation, an international “think tank” institute. During this one-year assignment, he co-authored 3 published studies. In his last military assignment as the Executive Director of DoD Health Services Region IV, he partnered with Humana Military Services to administer a multibillion dollar managed care operation for 600,000+ military personnel and their families in a five-state region. With extensive experience in federal healthcare as a benefits advisor, contract administrator, and beneficiary; he transitioned from the military at the rank of colonel to broaden his professional experience as a consultant, President/COO of a third party administrator company, department director for a regional managed care company, and director of revenue cycle management processes.He is a member of Pi Sigma Alpha, the Nat'l Political Science Honor Society, the Healthcare Finance and Management Association, & board-certified as a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.
