I consult with, lead and advise talent acquisition teams in partnering with business leaders and hiring managers to build strategies that find top talent in entertainment, media and technology companies. I enjoy helping organizations develop their recruiters and others interested in using social media, internet research, networking and consulting skills to source and screen talent for short and long term business strategies. Being part of large media and themed entertainment companies, my commitment to innovate has been well-received so I've been able to enjoy many successes and build some awesome business relationships with creative leaders. In my "spare" time I co-run an indie film/video/web production company called Velvet Candy Entertainment. We've made feature films ("Socket" and "The Mikado Project"), shorts ("Reunion", "Rubdown" and "Screening Party") and an ongoing award-winning web series, now in it's 3rd season ("Pretty") as a few examples. Senior Manager, Recruitment (A.K.A. Professional Recruitment Practice Leader)Walt Disney Imagineering Oct 2010 - Nov 2013Glendale, CaThis role allowed me to create and lead talent acquisition strategies and build a recruitment practice for Imagineering as part of the Walt Disney Company's Parks & Resorts business unit. Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) is a relationship driven organization, and required all of us to build partnerships with HR, functional managers, outside vendors and business leaders on behalf of the Recruitment function. The team here depended on me for leadership, guidance, coaching and mentoring as we filled open jobs for Imagineering. My team recruited Interns, Creative Professionals, Construction Project Managers, Architects and other Imagineers at many experience levels. We also staffed the design and construction of our newest resort in Shanghai, which requires a strategic mix of Disney and contingent or variable labor.I left this role in November 2013 to become a talent acquisition management consultant.John Carrozza: Recruitment manager, talent acquisition strategy, human resources consultant, relationship manager, Imagineer, intern, technical, visual arts, media, contingent workforce, variable labor, staffing, entertainment, theme parks, Los Angeles, Burbank, Glendale, Orlando, Shanghai, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Paris, Disneyland, Walt Disney World, diversity, inclusion, creative, career portal -

Senior Manager Talent Acquisition, Research Manager, Senior Staffing ConsultantThe Walt Disney Company May 2004 - Oct 2010Burbank, CaI've had a great time holding multiple roles as a Talent Acquisition professional with The Walt Disney Company. I gained exposure to a wide variety of key stakeholders throughout the Disney enterprise as we created staffing strategies, sourced and met with candidates and increased the recruitment toolkit of external resources.I chose a project management approach to filling open positions, creating plans, timelines and metrics which also helped redirect the Research subteam in using program management techniques to achieve their goals. My team of recruiters, researchers and administrative support staff created, implemented and leveraged successful talent pipeline development strategies. I built partnerships with 3rd party vendors (contingent recruitment firms, retained executive search partners, advertising agencies, etc.). Program management skills were key to succeed as Subject Matter Expert on implementation, cutover activities, training and user adoption of new Talent Acquisition System. Recruitment systems themselves may not sound exciting but helping to define the human user experience was fun and challenging to work on.I also managed aspects of temporary staffing programs for the Burbank/Glendale area, improving process and rolling out a new system to track end-to-end temporary employee engagements from order to payment.Years of career growth and personal satisfaction came from doing this work for one of the world's strongest entertainment brands.John Carrozza: Recruitment Manager, talent acquisition strategy, direct sourcing, human resources consultant, relationship manager, Imagineer, contingent workforce, variable labor, staffing, entertainment, theme parks, service level agreements, temporary staffing, research, sourcing, Los Angeles, Burbank, HR, IT, Finance, Accounting, MBA, diversity, applicant tracking system, hiring management system, career portal, talent acquisition system -

My clients were mostly in business administration, finance and accounting across the many Disney businesses. I learned how Disney finds and hires people.John Carrozza: direct sourcing, contract recruiter, finance, accounting, administrative, talent acquisition, staffing, Burbank, temporary, entertainment -
Lead Staffing Specialist - Universal Studios (Through Chimes, Inc.)Chimes, Inc Apr 2001 - Oct 2003Hollywood, CaThis was a great job! Working on the historic Universal Studios Hollywood lot, I led a new centralized supplier/vendor management program to reduce Universal's hourly staffing costs and maximize the efficiency of hiring managers' time. An early centralized vendor management tool, this system used a unique combination of web-based technology and a professional office and call center and required a thorough understanding of contractor rates and other influencers of contingent workforce management.I managed relationships with 3rd party recruiters and screened/interviewed individual candidates for a variety of positions, including administrative, technical and financial professionals.Training Universal's hiring managers, department managers, executive management and agency representatives serving Universal's business units on the system was a unique challenge. Like many systems, we had to manage fear of the unknown as the system eventually proved itself.Unfortunately, my role was eliminated as the system gained efficiency and Universal's reliance on contractors diminished. The silver lining was that Disney found me within 2 short months.John Carrozza: variable workforce, contingent labor management, client relationship management, VMS, vendor management system, staffing, agency, Hollywood, Universal, contractors

Manager Of RecruitmentOn-Demand Software Consultants Oct 1998 - Dec 2000San Francisco Bay AreaI was lucky to have been part of the internet boom in Silicon Valley in the late 1990's. I recruited technical, management and marketing professionals for an e-business spin-off venture while leading the company's client based contingency recruitment department. After being there for 1 year, the company's owners asked me to hire, train and managed a new team of recruiters and support staff to create an entire department with goals, procedures, marketing initiatives and strategies to maximize client-based recruitment efforts. I created performance evaluation structure and standards while building and maintaining relationships with technical professionals and hiring managers at client companies in an effort to place qualified candidates in rewarding full time and contract roles at internet start-ups and established firms. I learned how to assess needs and wants of prospective candidates and hiring managers through personal visits and presentations.I sourced, qualified, interviewed and presented technical candidates for a variety of positions in e-commerce, primarily programmers, project managers, marketers and executives. It was critical that I close deals and provide crucial follow-up.I was happy to have succeeded in personal satisfaction and earned commissions that exceeded all expectations, allowing the company to expand technical recruitment from 1 person to a team of 5 (achieving over 400K profit margin and 50 new clients in year 1, ahead of plan). The company was sold at the end of 2000 and I moved on to L.A.John Carrozza: IT staffing, closer, lead generation, internet research, direct sourcing, software developers, variable workforce, contingent labor management, staffing, agency, contractors, consultants, boom, bust, internet bubble, Silicon Valley, San Francisco

Regional Donor Recruitment And Marketing ManagerBlood Centers Of The Pacific Jul 1995 - Oct 1998San Francisco Bay AreaBefore becoming a talent acquisition and recruitment professional, I had a career in non-profit. I recruited, hired, trained and managed all activities of team of 20+ community representatives, marketing staff and management, interacting with Human Resources Department. I managed all aspects of a centralized call center which was responsible for ensuring an adequate supply of blood donors. I also customized existing performance evaluation programs to maximize impact and improve quality of service. The fun part of the job was creating, implementing and presenting community relations strategies, marketing programs and educational/training seminars to the SF Bay Area business, educational, religious and other communities for achievement of blood and specialty donation goals. As a result, we met regular blood donation, new donor development and organizational growth goals using a variety of strategies and programs, which kept the local blood supply out of crisis. This role allowed me to cultivate relationships with major donor groups, media outlets, co-branding partners and internal leaders and medical leaders across San Francisco.I am proud to have had the opportunity to initiate many new marketing and motivational programs to keep donor groups committed and passionate about supporting this cause.
