Profile bio

About John Carter

Keen to secure my next project I am a self-motivated Project Manager with more than 17 years’ experience in this role in the mining and smelting industries. I believe that my personal strengths (planning, organising, attention to detail, tenacity, and focus on safety) and project management qualifications and experience fit well with most Project Manager / Engineer roles.I have experience with completing projects from end to end – from Initiation Phase to Selection Phase to Definition Phase to Execution Phase through to Close Out. This has especially been the case in my Project Manager role in the coal industry in Queensland for 6 years from October 2015 which saw me successfully manage over 40 projects safely to completion for BHP Coal. My interpersonal and communication skills have seen me lead the development of strong team cultures in the groups that I have been responsible for and have ensured that I engage with key stakeholders to form trusting relationships and develop project plans that meet business requirements. My secondary role as Site Supervisor at BMA Saraji Mine gave me much experience in the safe management of external stakeholders and contractors through the Contractor Management Framework system. My analytical and goal targeting skills have seen me develop best business case opportunities and tenaciously work through challenging projects to a safe conclusion to the required scope, schedule, quality and budget.I have a tertiary qualification in Process Engineering (Metallurgy) and more recently a diploma in Project Management. All of my project management experience has been in mining and heavy industry including BHP Coal mines, BHP Olympic Dam, Rio Tinto Alcan Boyne Island Smelter, BlueScope Steelworks and OneSteel Steelworks.I am flexible with roster and FIFO arrangements. My highest value (integrity) ensures that I operate at a high standard in projects that I might be considered for. I’d appreciate the opportunity to continue in a project management or related role to the mutual benefit of both parties.I can be available for an interview at your convenience.

Listed skills include Microsoft Office, Management, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and 13 others.
