My role at the University of Auckland is to help deliver Te Rautaki Tūāpapa, the university's Estate Strategy.

As the Priority Location Director West I was tasked with the regeneration programmes in West Auckland including the Eke Panuku Avondale and Henderson programmes. I was responsible for team leadership, regeneration strategy, delivery and external relationships. This involved running a team of Development Managers, Urban Designers, Placemakers, and Project Managers.

As a programme manager and strategic planner, I led the Unlock Old Papatoetoeand Unlock Avondale regeneration projects. Key achievements included:- Progressing the Unlock Old Papatoetoe and Unlock Avondale programmesincluding obtaining board approval for Programme Business Cases.- Strategic analysis to support confirming a preferred location for a new multi-purpose community facility in Avondale.- Old Papatoetoe town centre upgrade including the redevelopment and sale($6.3m) of a pedestrian mall in the Papatoetoe main street, construction of anew civic space and redevelopment of a carpark.- Strategic acquisition of development sites in Papatoetoe.- Effective programme management.

I led the development of the urban regeneration strategy for two of our strategic priority areas, OldPapatoetoe and Avondale. These strategies (High Level Project Plans) then became the basis for ourintervention in the area. Key achievements included:- Writing the Unlock Avondale High Level Project Plan (Winner of a New Zealand Planning Institute Best Practice Award 2018).- Writing the Unlock Old Papatoetoe High Level Project Plan- Providing strategic advice to the Panuku Board and Councillors about a number of strategic issuesincluding the use of statutory tools such as compulsory acquisition and designation to support urban regeneration.- Representing Panuku in major infrastructure projects. This includes managing the Panuku casethroughout the East West Link motorway Board of Inquiry hearing.

My role at Boffa Miskell was as a planning consultant within their Auckland office, advising clients on a range of development matters. Key Achievements included:- Working for 5 years with Tainui Group Holdings Limited on their development at Ruakura, Hamilton. This is a large urban extension (8% increase in the overall size of Hamilton) which includes an Inland Port, industrial areas, a retail centre and a large medium density residential area.- Leading a project for Auckland Transport to review of all designations to be retained through theUnitary Plan hearings process.- Providing advice to Iwi groups including Waikato-Tainui te Kauhanganui Incorporated.- Consenting of streetscape and civic improvement projects in Auckland including the O’Connell Street and Federal Street CBD upgrades and the Westgate Library and Town Square.- Presenting at conferences including the 2013 New Zealand Planning Institute Conference on how we can use geographic information systems to identify opportunities for residential intensification inAuckland.
