My name is Mu-Chung Chen. I obtained my degree of Master of Electrical Engineering in 2007 and Bachelor of Applied Science as an Electrical Engineering student in 2004, in National Taiwan University (NTU) and University of British Columbia (UBC). I was trained to be a professional engineering. I had joined TATUNG cooperation from 2004 to 2005 and Sunplus Tech. from 2007 until now. In TATUNG, I have gained experience in software designing. In Sunplus, I am mainly in charge of Forward Error Correcting (FEC) Code hardware implementation, for example, DVB-S2 Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) and BCH. In the beginning, I have gained experience from interpreting and modifying other’s people’s RTL codes and measurement of IC performance using various equipments such as oscilloscopes and pattern generation equipments. I have learned how to debug T8051 and translation to Verilog from VHDL. From the experience gained first year, I started to not only design the digital circuit but also optimize the hardware to minimum size and meet the desired throughput. The modules that I designed, included, Demappers, SRRC, LDPC, BCH, and etc…. The designs are verified with pattern match with C or Matlab codes and FPGA emulation with correct constrains. The biggest accomplish of all is the implementation of DVB-S2 LDPC. Because of the design, I have a patent and a paper published. Also, I have helped out tapeout process. I wrote testbenches to test functions, integrate BIST for memories, used Logic Equivalent Check to verify the gate-level codes, and used synthesis tool.In the years in MediaTek, I have gained even more experience with Digital IC design. I am in charge of DVBT2 system RTL integration and some CE related module coding. I have chances to use some of the tools in ASIC flow such as DC, and LEC. Also, I have participated in ATPG, FT, and OLT pattern preparation for IC verification.
