John Haldyn Clamp was the driving force behind UltraVision’s lens manufacture and development. John is a dynamic innovator of considerable achievement and experience in the competitive and fast-changing optometry industry, with contact lenses as his particular area of expertise. Through his interest in specialist and lenses for irregular corneas, John has patented several inventions, such as soft contact lens for correcting abnormal corneal topography. Other patents cover areas that include contact lens optics, contact lens design, multifocal contact lenses, liquid crystal and IOP sensing contact lenses, unique contact lens packaging solutions. He also has patents in completely difference areas such as rotary engine design. As Joint CEO of UltraVision CLPL, John Haldyn Clamp is widely published and also has a proven track record and strong presence in research, design, manufacture and development, including the inception of Spherical Aberration Management (SAM), for which he received a Queen’s Award for Innovation. He has also received another Queen’s Award for KeraSoft Irregular Cornea contact lens. John's other achievements include:• Developing a Contact Lens Core Software Platform which provides an Enterprise solution for all Contact Lens Design, Control and Execution requirements• Creating company strategy for cross platform Contact Lens R&D, from concept through process and CE regulatory framework and commercialisation.• Working as collaborative partner with numerous universities and specialist companies, both in contact lens design and materials, and intra ocular lens design and materials.• Working as a STEM Ambassador (July 2014 onwards) and Advocate of the Maker Communities, developing and running technical an education course at a primary school.• Organiser of field trips to Maker Community for children.• Chair of Governors - Newnham Croft Primary School from Sept 2013 to Sept 2015 (Governor from Sept 2009)
