Having worked for three firms since 1988 and with the onset of the recession in 2007, the time was right to establish John Clark Architect Inc. in 2009. JCA is a boutique architectural firm that specializes in both large-scale urban and rural projects in British Columbia, Yukon, Alberta and Washington with an emphasis on creative resource management.Our team of professionals, extensive experience and clients have helped shape and define our approach to design and project delivery. JCA has worked with diverse clients including; school committees, developers, volunteers, planners, clergy and First Nations. Working with diverse clients requires expertise in organizing and simplifying design data, analysis and project administration.At JCA we pursue and promote visible forms of expression balanced by thoughtful design rationale. Our BIM strategy amalgamates the architects, consultants and engineers into one master file moving the project forward as a collective through a private cloud network, enabling instantaneous collaboration and the ability to correct potential problems quickly and efficiently. BIM also allows JCA to provide detailed cost analysis in “real time” including budgets and estimates.

Completed projects in California; Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Diego. Was a senior associate and secured work with former and new clients. Appointed to run new satellite office in Kirkland, Washington State.

Joined Vancouver firm, KMBR (institutional) to lead a newly formed residential design team. Secured significant residential commissions for a high-rise and mid-rise waterfront development.

While at L.O. Lund, enrolled in the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada Syllabus and continued full-time work and architectural studies over a ten-year period. Attended design studio at Arthur Erickson’s Laurel Street office with Nick Milkovich as mentor. After fourteen years as a senior associate and eventually a Principal, the exposure, experience, and responsibilities from the many large and small projects at Lund proved invaluable.
