I am a part-time tutor at Leeds University School of Lifelong Learning & was also the Chair of a mentoring charity, The Island York for a number of years, and Chaired Healthwatch York until early 2021, Healthwatch is a Government initiative set up to enable equality of access to Health & social-care service and ensure that people can influence and challenge health and social-care provision, a Healthwatch exists in every local authority area. I have also just completed three years as a Lay Adviser to the North Yorkshire Strategic MAPPA (Multi agency Public Protection Arrangements) Board.I have recently taken on a new role as Executive Chair of the Art of Protest Projects (AOPP) Ltd.I retired (2018) from the position of Prevention & Restorative Justice Co-ordinator for Leeds Youth Offending Service; I am trained in Restorative conversation/conference facilitation & also in delivery of Restorative Practice training, My interest in restorative work arose whilst practicing social work in North Yorkshire and was involved in developing Mentoring and Mediation services in York in 1998. Partnership with the Leeds Victim Offender Mediation Unit and West Yorkshire Police helped establish a Youth Mediation Project in Leeds in 1999, I trained as a Restorative Conference facilitator in 2000, was a committee member of Mediation UK and subsequently trained as a trainer in Restorative Practices.During that time, I contributed to training and development for Youth Offending staff, volunteers, Social Care staff, Police, Schools staff and young people, in promoting and implementing Restorative Justice and Restorative Practices across Leeds and other areas.
