Officer Commanding 71 SquadronRoyal Air Force Aug 2007 - Jul 2011Royal Air St Athan• Held the overall financial, administrative and operating responsibility for this unique operationally focused unit, which inspects and repairs seriously damaged airframes worldwide for both metallic and composite structures.• Responsible for an overall budget of approximately £7 million that included an operational budget of £1.2 million which was reduced to £0.85 million over 2 years without loss of output or quality.• Held the position of Principle Design Engineer providing the final design airworthiness signatory and final stress signatory where required (600+ tasks).• Line manager for 165 military and civilian personnel. • Accredited the organisation to the Ministry of Defence DAOS Scheme and the ISO 9001:2008 standard within 9 months of taking post.• Awarded the BAeS Chairman’s Bronze Award for contributions to the Design for Repair Partnership between the Repair Design Authority and BAe Systems Design Office. • Guest Lecturer on the Cranfield University MSc Aerospace Vehicle Design Course. -
French Engines Engineering AuthorityRoyal Air Force May 2003 - Aug 2007Yeovilton• Responsible for operational planning of 450 turbo shaft engines fitted to the Puma, Gazelle and Jetstream TMk 2 airframes including sustainability, in service modification, airworthiness, and budget information for all 3 engine types.• Acted as the Safety Engineer for all 3 engine types which included developing and maintaining the safety case for each engine type and reporting to the management board any safety related matters. • Single point of contact for all engineering, operational and airworthiness matters for the Turmo 3C4, Astazou 3N2 and 16D engines for the United Kingdom. -
