I am owner and sole proprietor of Trebloc Petroleum Engineering, PLLC. I am currently the Consulting Drilling Engineering/Superintendent for Navidad Operating, LLC for their Austin Chalk HTHP Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) wells in East Texas.

John was a founding management team member of Wishbone Energy Partners. His responsibilities included Drilling, Completion and Production Engineering, and Operations (including infrastructure planning and development). Our team was successful in building an economically successful organic play in the horizontal San Andres formation in the Permian Basin. We achieved a production rate of over 9,000 boepd. WEP, a Quantum Energy Partners portfolio company, successfully divested its assets to Ring Energy, Inc. in 2019.

Provided drilling engineering for my clients. The majority of the time was for Navidad Resources drilling in Houston County, a difficult area to drill with many challenges. We developed and executed Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) and Lost Circulation (LC) procedures which utilized real time digital data input into excel spreadsheets to drill the Glen Rose/Buda multi-zone vertical completed wells economically.

I served as the project manager for new ventures, most notably the Marcellus Shale. I provided drilling and completion engineering and operations, including wellsite supervision. The job required frequent travel to meet with team members, landowners, and public officials (community meetings about environmental impacts). Early phases of projects involved working closely with Geologist and Land. The development phase required more time working with CAD technicians and landowners to exploit/develop using pad drilling in mountainous inhabited terrain.

Houston, Texas Area

Provided drilling engineering and operations for exploration wells in the gulf coast area from S. Tx to E. Tx and offshore GOM. Many of the wells were High Pressure High Temperature (HTHP) requiring multiple casing/liner strings, hole enlargement technology, lost circulation techniques, MPD well control, and horizontal drilling. One notable achievement was we had a rig under contract that did not have enough casing running capacity to drill an exploration well. We used casing jacks to run the casing once the critical derrick load was reached. Another notable achievement was to casing drill the production string below a deeply set intermediate casing through a pressure regression and into a pressure transition and cemented on bottom. Well control/lost circulation risks/costs associated with tripping and running casing were mitigated. The position required travel to Australia.

Bryan/College Station, Texas Area

As the VP of Engineering and Operations for Signa Engineering, my duties were mostly international MPD assignments which involved a considerable time overseas. Two note worthy projects were the first Shell High-Pressure Mud Cap drilling project – Cogollo in Lake Maracaibo, Venezuela and Chevron’s first High-Pressure Mud Cap drilling project in Tengiz oil field, Kazakstan. Another note worthy project that was relatively lengthy in-house drilling engineering for Kerr McGee was for their deepwater Viosco Knoll Spar project in the GOM.

Bryan/College Station, Texas Area

Responsible for providing the planning for a 9 rig program for drilling HTHP horizontal multi-lateral wells in the Austin Chalk formation in the Brazos Valley, Giddings Field (TX) , and Masterson (LA) fields. Some of the wells required high pressure mud cap drilling utilizing high pressure service pumps and add on high pressure standpipe for injection/drilling pressures over 8000 psi.

Provided petroleum engineering (including reservoir and production engineering) consulting for independent and major oil companies both domestic and international - on and offshore. Much of the time was spent drilling horizontal re-entries and new drills for Clayton Williams Corp in the Austin Chalk field as well as assignments for Chevron.

Bryan/College Station, Texas Area

Instructed undergraduates in the Drilling Fluids Lab. I also conducted research in horizontal cuttings transport for Dr. Hans Juvkam-Wold.

Lafayette, Louisiana Area

Began by rigging up and operating a co-polymer bead recovery unit on drilling locations offshore and in Alaska. I was given an opportunity to go to mud school and provided onsight mud engineering in the Gulf Coast area of Louisianna.

Started as the night mud logger and was quickly promoted to Unit Manager. Instant Data Logging was a niche mud logging company for onsight pore pressure prediction in the GOM. It was an experience that introduced me to professional well control pressure.

Lafayette, Louisiana Area

Hired as a Recorded Lithology Log (RLL) field engineer. I was promoted to the position of Mud Pulse Telemetry engineer.

Odessa/Midland, Texas Area

Worked as a roustabout for two summers laboriously sweating in the hot west Texas sun. A memorable experience that built character.

Humble, Tx

Worked repairing bull dozer undercariage in the shop and in the field. It inspired me to study hard. My father taught me the basics. Work smart, hard, and with integrity and your reputation will sustain you.
